Progress Review Meeting on NFE Coordination Cell at the Ministry of Federal Education

A review meeting on the Non-Formal Education (NFE) Coordination Cell was held at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, chaired by Federal Secretary Nadeem Mahbub. The session was attended by the heads of NCHD, PIE, BECS, NEF, PCU, the Senior Joint Secretary, and officials from the Ministry.

The Ministry has taken an important step to strengthen Non-Formal Education by developing a comprehensive roadmap to guide reforms, coordination and service delivery. The Federal Secretary appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders in implementing key elements of the roadmap in a short period of time.

The meeting reviewed ongoing work across NFE initiatives and agreed on several steps to improve coordination, monitoring and delivery.

Participants endorsed four categories for school performance rankings: Excellent, Good, Satisfactory and Not Satisfactory. The scoring range for each indicator will be revised from 1 to 100 for a clearer assessment of performance.

Student Data Submission

Student data for Class 5 exam candidates will be shared with FDE by 15 December. The same data will be used for formative assessments of the students.

It was also decided that the first round of Continuing Professional Development activities will take place during the winter break.

The Federal Secretary instructed the monitoring teams to complete the visits within month to determine the clear status of Non Formal Schools.

Further decisions were made to strengthen the NFE stream. NFE students will take part in the upcoming NAT and the Foundational Learning Study. Guidelines and criteria for NFE teachers’ engagement have been prepared and will be issued within one week.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to improving non-formal education through better coordination, stronger monitoring and timely data-driven actions.
